Valerie Suter

Valerie Suter is a visual artist and educator. Originally from New York, she earned a BA in History from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and studied visual art at Central St. Martins College of Art & Design in London, UK. She received her MFA in Art & Design from Rutgers University in New Jersey, where she studied with artist Kara Walker and completed a graduate fellowship at Rutgers’ Eagleton Institute of Politics. She has exhibited her work nationally and internationally and has been a fellow of The Art & Law Program in New York, an artist-in-residence and grantee of the Vermont Studio Center, a nominee for the Dedalus Foundation MFA Fellowship, and a finalist for the AXA Art Prize. Recently her work was featured in the 2020 group exhibition Bound up Together: On the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment, curated by Rachel Gugelberger, at Smack Mellon in Brooklyn, NY. In 2022 she will be an artist-in-residence at the European Ceramic Workcentre in Oisterwijk, The Netherlands.
